In plain terms
- If you are reporting a case, browsing the registry, applying to be a guardian, or giving to the Fund, we set no cookies on your device at all.
- The only cookie on this platform keeps a SafeGuard staff member or case officer signed in to the internal review console. It is not set for ordinary visitors.
- We run no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to hold on to and send back on later visits, usually so the site can remember who you are without asking you to log in on every page. Most sites use several: to remember your preferences, to measure traffic, to serve ads. SafeGuard GH uses exactly one, and only for a specific group of people.
The one cookie we use
A cookie named pilot_session is set only when a SafeGuard staff member or case officer signs in to the internal case-review console at /admin. It exists to keep that person signed in for the length of their shift and to keep the console’s access controls working.
- It cannot be read by other websites and is never sent over an unencrypted connection.
- It carries no personal information itself, just an identifier we check against our own records.
- It expires automatically after 8 hours and is deleted immediately on sign-out.
If you are a member of the public, filing a report, browsing the registry, signing up as a guardian, sending a tip, or donating, you never receive this cookie, or any other.
What we don’t do
We run no analytics service, no advertising network, and no third-party tracking script of any kind on this platform. We don’t use your visit to this site to build a profile of you, and we have nothing to sell that profile to.
When you leave our site to donate
Giving to the Fund hands you off to a secure checkout page hosted by Paystack, our payment processor. Once you are on that page, cookies may be set by Paystack itself to process the transaction securely; those are governed by Paystack’s own cookie and privacy policies, not this one. We don’t control what Paystack does on its own page, and it never happens on safeguardgh.org itself.
Managing this cookie
You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser’s settings. Doing so has no effect on browsing the public registry, filing a report, or any other part of the site, the only thing it can affect is a staff member’s own sign-in to the review console, which simply logs them out.
Changes to this policy
If that ever changes, if we introduce a second cookie for any reason, we will describe it here, by name and purpose, before it ships.
